Educational support
Disability, FLE, PPR: IDM supports every learner towards success, whatever their specific needs.
Overview
Supporting every learner towards success
At Institut des Métiers, we firmly believe that every learner should be able to access training, make progress and succeed in their programme — regardless of their difficulties or specific needs.
To deliver on this commitment, we have developed several complementary support schemes to adapt pathways and promote the success of each individual.
Our support schemes
Disability
Support for learners with disabilities: pedagogical adaptations, exam adjustments and partner coordination.
French as a Foreign Language (FLE)
Language support for allophone learners to help them integrate and succeed in training.
Pedagogical Reinforcement Programme (PPR)
Reinforcement of core French and maths skills for CAP apprentices.
Disability and training adjustments
Learner with a disability: let's build your pathway together
An institution committed to inclusion
Institut des Métiers is part of the regional H+ Formation initiative, which aims to guarantee access to training, strengthen accessibility and promote the success of people with disabilities. In line with the principles of the law of 11 February 2005 on equal rights and opportunities, participation and citizenship for people with disabilities, our institution is committed to creating the conditions necessary for inclusive and accessible training for all.
Because every situation is unique, we offer personalised support to identify each learner's needs and put tailored solutions in place throughout their programme.

French as a Foreign Language (FLE)
Learning a trade and mastering French
Why an FLE scheme?
Mastery of the French language is essential to succeed in training, understand lessons, communicate in the workplace and prepare for professional integration.
The FLE scheme supports allophone learners or those with significant difficulties in understanding and expressing themselves in French.
In 2025-2026, nearly 190 learners received support from the FLE Unit.
Integrated FLE support
For apprentices already enrolled in a CAP, individualised support can be put in place. The learner:
- Remains in their group for vocational subjects
- Receives specific support for certain general education subjects
The FLE Bridging Class
The FLE Bridging Class is designed for young people who need intensive support before fully joining their training programme. It enables:
- Acquisition of the basics of the French language
- Introduction to the professional world
- Development of autonomy
- Gradual preparation for apprenticeship
Alternating between company and CFA fosters concrete immersion in the chosen trade.
Programme objectives
- Develop oral and written comprehension
- Improve oral and written expression
- Acquire professional vocabulary
- Facilitate integration in the workplace
- Promote autonomy in day-to-day tasks
- Prepare for exam success
How to join the scheme?
Entry into the scheme can be proposed:
- During the initial placement assessment
- At the request of the teaching team
- At the request of the company
- At the request of the learner or their family
Pedagogical Reinforcement Programme (PPR)
Building core knowledge to succeed in the CAP
Why a Pedagogical Reinforcement Programme?
Some apprentices encounter difficulties with core learning that can hinder their progress in training.
The PPR was created to help CAP apprentices strengthen their French and maths skills through individualised support.
In 2025-2026, 80 CAP apprentices received support through the PPR.
An individualised pathway
Following the placement assessments carried out at the start of training and the teaching team's analysis, a personalised pathway can be proposed. The learner then joins a small group to work on the skills that need reinforcing.
